Literacy Wiki
Unlike the previous websites, Wikis allow easy editing and make it possible for students to have a more interactive role.
At this site, I express the necessity for literacy. I am a believer that all students would like reading once you find a genre or series that they enjoy. It is about the material content that get a child into literature.
Using this, I have created an activity for kids to do a search and find, then write a story of their own describing the picture. This wiki also allows them to keep track of the pages they are reading. I hope that the accessibility from their home will encourage them to make a more conscious effort to read with their parents or siblings, or on their own. I will also edit the wiki to attempt to provide them with various suggestions of good books for them to read. I hope that they try new genres and challenge themselves in their reading ability.
One assignment that this wiki introduces involves a seek and find. On the site, students will look at a picture and find as many objects as they can. Then that individual has to write a story explaining what is happening in the picture using 3 of those words.
This activity has the students exercise their narrative skills while being able to be creative with correct grammatical use. In doing this, the children will be apply multiple aspects of the GLCEs. The targeted grade would be second, where they need to
W.GR.01.01 in the context of writing, correctly use complete simple sentences beginning with a capital letter and ending with a period, question mark, or exclamation point and capitalize first and last names, and the pronoun I.

PB Works
A branch of Wikipedia, I use PBWorks for a variety of purposes in education. I was first introduced to this resource through a college course, when we used it for all classmates to edit and put their work and resources on the site. It also provided instructional material for us to reference. Then I began using it to organize teaching materials - sites and resources online so that I could easily access them from any computer anywhere. Then the opportunities seemed endless. I have since created sites for my MAET, teaching resources, the regions of the United States, Reading Comprehension, and more. Most recently, I moved my North Carolina Teacher Evaluation to be online for my principal to review. This includes lesson plans, photographs, communication, and other evidence of my proficiency.
