Technology Vision
As a technology specialist, my primary goal is to aid in preparing 21st Century learners for their future. This assistance would involve both student instruction and providing professional development for staff. In efforts to reach this goal, I strive for well-balanced instruction with seamless technology integration. A technology class should be an extension of the regular classroom settings. To make technology integration meaningful to students, they need to put into practice what they are already learning. Ideally I would also like to collaborate with teachers to provide technology tool instruction so that students are able to utilize the tool for project based learning in doing so, this initial introduction would not take away from instructional time. Not only will I strive to accomplish the National Educational Technology Standards, utilization of Web 2.0 tools, integration of Ipads, and basic computer/keyboarding skills. Technology will increasingly affect students' futures - we need to prepare them now!
Technology Experience
Throughout my college career, I have had the privilege to learn and explore new technologies. This is an aspect of education that I am extremely interested in. Technology has provided us with more knowledge than we could ever consume, however, with that knowledge comes power. As a teacher, it is our duty to allow students to experience technology in a safe environment to discover all that it offers.
I plan to pursue my Masters in Educational Technology online through Michigan State University. MSU has the #1 Graduate program in the nation for the 17th year in a row. As an undergrad, I have worked a lot with technology, not only as a resource, but also as a method to teach students information. Now as I pursue my career, I have attended multiple technology conferences in attempts to learn more.
As I plan to teach in an at risk, or underprivileged school, technology should still be integrated into the curriculum. Even if the students do not have the resources as readily available, it is my mission and goal to bring technology to them through a variety of tools.
I encourage you to look at the websites I have created, not only for adults, but students and fellow colleagues as well.
