Comments from iNnovative iPad iNtegration:
"Thank you for this class. It was the best class I had at DI (Destination Innovation)."
" I think I could learn so much from you."
"I would love to spend a day in your classroom, just to see you teach with all of this!"
Mrs. Sheila Wallace:
Kudos to Ms. Czerney for creative project based learning to keep the students engaged until the end. Great integration and great planning!
- This comment was made in reference to the Lemonade War Collaborative Project my students were completing and our Egg Drop Challenge that also took place during the last week of our school year. In the Egg Drop, four students insured the safety of their egg in a vessel being dropped by the Rocky Mount Fire Department four times, with the maximum height reaching 65 feet! What an amazing accomplishment! All from recycled materials and bubble wrap!

Goal 1 - During the 2012-2013 school year, I will strive to create an inviting, student
friendly environment, so that students are able to build relationships with
caring adults, and utilize the parent resource to build life-long learners.
Ms. Czerney has worked to individualize her methods for parent
communication. She has gotten to know the parents of her students and their most
effective way (preference) for communication with the teacher. Some parents are
contacted via text messages, others e-mail, sending notes home or phone calls.
She keeps her classroom website updated with announcements and academic goals.
She has also gathered parent input through the use of a survey that is also
posted on her class website. She keeps data notebooks on her students and is
able to share this information via parent conferences.
Goal 2 - During the 2012-2013 school year, I aim to integrate 21st century skills,
specifically global awareness to provide for students to become better 21st
century learners.
Students in Ms. Czerney's class are exposed to a variety of
activities and projects that promote the attainment of 21st century skills.
Students use multiple means of communication with their teacher, their peers and
with other students in the school. They are often involved in projects that
require branching out beyond the classroom - visiting lower grade level classes
to collect data, teach kindergarteners and collect recycled goods. Their
learning is not confined to the walls of Ms. Czerney's classroom. Students are
able to apply the concepts they have learned where ever they travel. They are
constantly exposed to various cultures thus enhancing their global awareness.

"Miss Czerney, you must have the best classroom management. I never notice your students until you aren't there. You are truly doing something right!"
Battle of the Books
Kudos to Ms. Taybron, Ms. Czerney and Ms. Christman for working so diligently with our Battle of the Book students to ensure that they were prepared for the competition. The students had a great time, read a variety of books and represented Hubbard well. Thanks for all that you've done to make this happen!
Tech Team
Kudos to the tech team today! An awesome job of sharing your knowledge of the available instructional technology tools with your peers today. Thanks to Mrs. Wiggins for coming up with the idea and soliciting staff members to assist in the efforts. Great job Mrs. Richardson, Ms. Thompson, Ms.Czerney, Ms. Brown and kudos to the staff members that supported this new technology initiative.

"I think you have hit on the most important thing in having success and that is consistency. Your students are lucky to have you. Keep up the good job."

Action Research Paper - 25/25 Excellent reflection Linnea! You really did an exceptional job of reflecting on how the lesson facilitated student learning (and helped clear up misconceptions), and how it might work in the future. I like that you structured it with a good amount of scaffolding, taking the students through the process and then gradually allowing them to take more responsibility. I think the technologies you were using had some useful affordances (especially visually, which can be really useful for memory retention) in helping your students to better understand the chronology. This was one of the better reflective pieces I’ve seen for this assignment, and you’re doing an amazing job of being very reflective about your own teaching and considering all of the possibilities for future work. Nice job! 25/25 points
