My Coloring Book
I have created a powerpoint where students learn their colors and create a virtual coloring book for themselves. This tutorial, would accompany a day where I speak about colors and mixing them together. Then we may move on to an experimental aspect and finger paint, making our own coloring book and discover how colors mix together. Finally, to bring it all together they would go through this tutorial on powerpoint to cement the concepts of a basic color wheel.
Please view this activity as an example of a possible integration of verbal, hands-on, visual, technologically instruction... Thus appealing to all learning types in one way or another. This interactive slide show teaches children their primary colors, and what colors can be made by mixing the primaries. These new colors are called secondary colors. Using this show, the children see objects in those primary colors as well as presenting color combinations like addition problems. Then at the end they are given a question and asked to click on their answer. Depending on their answer, they will be taken to a slide further explaining their choice.

A River Ran Wild
In this presentation, I was a part of a group that utilized Literature Based Teaching and the book by Lynne Cherry, A River Ran Wild, to teach our classmates both about using this method as well as a lesson with the book. We included Cause and Event Strips, Map Mashups, Read-Aloud and Paired Reading, as well as incorporating the Grade Level Content Expectations. These tasks were completed through a variety of pre, during, and post reading activities completed by the students.
