The following is a letter of recommendation provided by a close personal and professional mentor. I have known her for 8 years and have substitute taught for her many times as well as provided child care for her own children. While in her classroom, she allowed me to create or change lessons, so I was able to exercise my creativity through altering multiple activities. One such involved a transitional activity between Social Studies and Language Arts. In Social Studies, we read about the founding of Michigan and created a timeline to help them sequence the events that occurred in those times; focusing on dates and the progression to statehood. Then in Language Arts, they were required to do a sequencing activity with the story "Jack and the Beanstalk." This also served as a pre-activity for the timelines they would create the next week about their own lives.
The following is an end of the year evaluation from my Collaborating Teacher. Throughout the year, I was placed in a Kindergarten classroom at a Magnet School in Lansing, Michigan. While in this classroom, I taught three whole group lessons, and two small group lesson.
To highlight one section of her evaluation, she stated
From the teaching you have seen so far, what are the areas that need further development? Please add suggestions to the student as he/she moves forward into the internship
"None. Ms. Czerney is one of the best MSU students I have had in my class. Sometimes, I feel like she can read my mind. She is always working and is very self-motivated. I believe Ms. Czerney will be an amazing teacher someday."
